Welcome to Quant5!
Quant5, a company providing software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions, was founded to help enterprises create sustainable competitive advantage through well-defined customer analytics solutions.
The company’s co-founders - Doug Levin and Marcelo Ballestiero - developed the Quant5 vision, mission and business model over a series of meetings at the Café L’Aroma in Boston’s Back Bay starting in May 2011 and culminating in the company incorporating in September 2011.
Over coffee libations we discovered a shared passion for complex problem solving in large businesses and a love of math and science. We also compared notes from conversations with CMO’s and marketing professionals who are struggling to find the solutions and talent to capitalize on the volumes of data surrounding their businesses. To fill this need and realize our vision of a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, we decided to create a “dream team” of early employees and advisors (and eventually investors). We successfully recruited this initial team of MBAs and PhDs in math, operations research, systems architecture and software development from MIT, Harvard, Cambridge University and other highly distinguished schools.
The founders and dream team’s vision, and those of subsequent employees, and continues to coalesce the company today.
This blog post is the first of many that addresses the passions that led to Quant5: the enthusiasm we feel about business analytics and how it will deliver significant perfromance improvement; developments related to the company and in big data & big analytics marketing, the funding picture; customer applications; analytical methods, and solutions to interesting problems, and many other topics.
Our blog posts will (mostly!) be constructive, highly observational and take a problem solving approach. Occasionally we will rant but promise to get back to the serious topic at hand: generating more revenue, reducing expenses and improving operational efficiencies in the enterprise.
